What is Periodontal disease?

Swollen and bleeding gums are early signs that your gums are inflammed due bacteria within dental plaque.

Early gum disease presents as a form of inflammation termed as gingivitis, which is a reversible condition. If nothing is done, the infection can spread. As it spreads, it gradually degrades the supporting structures of the gum and bone. Eventually, should the disease spread further, the teeth become loose and may require extraction.

Gum disease is a treatable condition, but the more advanced it is, the more complex the treatment. At presentation, if the gum disease is more advanced, you may be referred to a periodontist (specialist)

Regular Hygiene visits are encouraged to prevent gum disease and maintain more stable structures. We recommend 6 monthly hygiene appointments to keep you pearly whites in top condition
